Next stop Vallekilde

Vallekilde Folk High School welcomes you to a 4 day community practice around facilitated dialogues, artwork, woodwork, music and cooking. You will meet qualified facilitators, storytellers and artists and a welcoming atmosphere – the best conditions for learning the dance of the individual and the collective and experiencing and practicing collective co-creation.
This kind of playful and non-competitive learning lab is rooted in the Danish Folk Highschool movement and it’s concept of life-long learning, and has been practiced at Vallekilde Folk Highschool from the foundation in 1865. Stories have been told here ever since and people became inspired to go out and do good community work afterwards. At the heart of this ‘Learning Village’ are also stories as transformational tools.
We will weave stories about our ancestors and about our time, our neighborhood initiatives, community building and organic farming. Small stories will intermingle with systemic stories, and we will weave on the story and the actions of our time, as we would like it to be told by future generations. The kick-off story is about the crisis Denmark went through 200 years ago.
In 1813 Denmark went bankrupt and became the greatest looser in the Napoleon war. In the following 40 years there was a rich development in arts and education and huge systemic shift. What were the pivotal moments of the time? And how do we become more aware of finding and acting on those moments in the present?
We think of this year’s Constitution Day at Vallekilde as a public conversation lab. We would like you to explore with us how we frame a truly participatory, cross-generational and co-creating dialogue on the society and community we want. We believe, many of us long for conversations that matter and involve citizens across age, ethnicity, tradition and gender. Contribute with your gifts in a common learning on how we create such collective conversations. On Constitution Day Wednesday May the 5th Vallekilde Folk High School will open the doors for the public. Participants of the Learning Village will voluntarily be storytellers and hosts of the Constitution Day Meeting. For more information please call: +45-5965 6045.
